Q1 Outline the principles of independent advocacy.
Why does advocacy exist? What is the purpose of advocacy and what does it seek to achieve? Can you think of any groups/individuals in the past or present that may have needed advocacy support? These can be from your own personal experience/knowledge or situations you have encountered in your working life. Please outline and describe relevant Advocacy Standards. If you are based in England or Wales, these can be found in the Advocacy Charter (11 standards). If you are based in Scotland, these can be found in the Scottish Advocacy Principles, Standards & Code of Best Practice (PANEL principles)

What groups are typically more likely to be supported by independent advocates? Could you benefit from independent advocacy support?
Q3. What circumstances might lead a person to seek advocacy support?
Q4. There are several models of advocacy. Describe the key features of 4 different models of advocacy and in what circumstances they might be the most appropriate to use.
